What is "micro-deposit verification" and how does it work?

If you create your GovernWell account by "manually verifying" your bank account (entering the insitution, branch transit and account numbers), Stripe verifies your bank account once using a process of "micro-deposit verification".

In the 24-28 hours following your account creation, Stripe will make 2 small ($0.01 - $0.99) deposits to your bank account and then withdraw the sum of the 2 deposits in a single transaction - so there is no impact on your account.  Stripe will then send you an email with a link to a Stripe portal where you can enter the 2 amounts to verify your account.

This verficiation must be completed within 10 days of when the deposits were made or else it expires/fails.

If you have on-line access to view your bank account, this should be simple to complete.  If you do not have online access, you will need to contact your bank (perhaps by visiting the branch) to obtain the amounts of the 2 micro-deposits as you will likely not have time to wait to receive an account statement before the 10 day period expires.

This micro-deposit verification only needs to be completed once following account creation.  Future payments when your annual subscription renews will occur automatically and you will receive emails in advance to notify you of the upcoming renewal and again when the renewal processes.
